The new Hewlett-Packard Company is the result of a merger with Compaq Computer Corporation.

HP (as of May 2002) has approximately 145,000 employees worldwide, and business presence and services capability in more than 160 countries.

Four core business groups of the new HP:

Enterprise Systems Group (ESG), led by Peter Blackmore, executive vice president. ESG focuses on providing the key technology components of enterprise IT infrastructure to enhance business agility--including enterprise storage, servers, management software and a variety of solutions.
Imaging and Printing Group (IPG), led by Vyomesh Joshi ("VJ"), executive vice president. HP is the leading provider of printing and imaging solutions for both business and consumers. IPG includes printer hardware, all-in-ones, digital imaging devices such as cameras and scanners, and associated supplies and accessories. It is also expanding into the commercial printing market.
HP Services (HPS), led by Ann Livermore, executive vice president. HP Services is a premier IT services team with 65,000 professionals around the globe. HPS offers guidance, know-how and a comprehensive portfolio of services to help customers realize measurable business value from their IT investment.
Personal Systems Group (PSG), led by Duane Zitzner, executive vice president. PSG focuses on providing simple, reliable and affordable personal computing solutions and devices for home and business use, including desktop and notebook PCs, workstations, thin clients, smart handhelds and personal devices.
In addition to the four business groups, HP Labs, led by Dick Lampman, senior vice president, provides a central research function for the company. HP Labs is focused on inventing new technologies that change markets and create business opportunities.

In fiscal year 2001 (ended October 31, 2001), HP reported revenues of $45.2 billion.

In fiscal year 2001 (ended December 31, 2001), Compaq reported revenues of $33.6 billion.
