DATAmatic Corporation was created jointly by
Honeywell and Raytheon in 1955. The Datamatic 1000 was a large-scale, general-purpose
electronic data processing machine. Core memory was 24K decimal digits. The CPU and its peripherals filled an entire room. |
| The Datamatic could convert the data on 900 punched cards to magnetic tape in one minute. Punched data output was 100 cards per minute. It could multiply 1,000 sets of 11 digit numbers in one second. It used 3-inch wide Mylar plastic magnetic tape. | |
