The Brandt Automatic Cashier was a mechanical change maker. One filled the front slots with pennies, dimes, nickels, quarters, and half dollars. Then one pressed the desired change amount, such as $1.35, and the machine would automatically dispense the correct combination of coins.

These machines were very heavy and durable. Many are sill around today in antique shops or collections, and they usually work fine.
